Definition of Hajj
Ruling on Hajj and its virtue
Hajj is one of the pillars of Islam, which Allaah has
enjoined upon His slaves. Allaah says ( interpretation of the meaning ) :
"And Allaah has given the people a pilgrimage .
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him )
said : "Islam is built on five: the testimony that there is no god but
Allah and that Muhammad is His slave and His Messenger. (agreed).
And the Messenger of Allah (r) said : «From the pilgrimage
did not inherit [the inheritance: the name of the absurdity of the saying] did
not spoil [Disobedience: sin] forgive him the above of his sins». (Reported by
Tirmidhi).
Hajj is obligatory once in a lifetime.
Definition of Umrah
Ruling on 'Umrah and its virtue
(Peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said : "
Umrah is obligatory in one's lifetime, such as Hajj, because it says (r): Islam
is to testify that there is no god but Allah, that Muhammad is the Messenger of
Allaah, . (Narrated by Ibn Khuzaymah).
The Messenger of Allah (r) said : «Umrah to Umrah expiation
for what is between them, and the Hajj is not only rewarded Paradise».
(agreed).
